Water and Energy Efficiency Assessment in Urban Green Spaces

Urban green spaces can be intensive water and energy consumers in the cities, particularly scarce regions. Though a very efficient use of such resources is necessary, tools for assessing both consumption efficiency are not available. In this paper, new methodology based on balances developed water-use urban spaces. The proposed balances, adapted from those supply systems, specifically tailored accounting specificities, namely, landscape requirements, other uses besides irrigation over losses. demonstrated two case studies different nature characteristics: modern garden with smart system an park traditional system. results show that allow to estimate assess years effectiveness implemented saving measures. application water–energy balance demonstrates impact measures systems. used identify most adequate improvement measures, contributing better management cities.
